hello, ujiie here. the v-combo vr-09. actually, we made a vr-09 demo video not so long ago, but this time, wait for it, they updated the thing, down to the waveforms even, and holy smokes is it nice! so we thought we'd just re-visit it, and here we are. i was using the looper just before, i wonder if you caught how i was overdubbing on the fly?

this function is great, you get a drum loop going, and there are so many rhythm loops! very good job here! and the loop i just made is still in here. this is so well done! excellent! for those of you who didn't see the first video, let's recap. this keyboard, the v-combo vr-09, has an organ section, a piano section,

a synthesizer section, and a drum section. those are the main sections, and there are mode buttons here, for quick switching between them. press organ and you get organ. there are drawbars here. and you can add a leslie-like rotary sound here. very nice. vibrato's in there too. the vibrato/chorus button here.

percussion also. hear the percussive attack? it sounds good. right? it's got an effects section too. you've got overdrive... the distortion is really nice! the tone control here, when turned to the right, emphasizes lows and highs, and when turned left, mids.

hear the emphasis change? you can tailor it to match the rest of the mix, or make it stand out during a solo, whatever. very nice! compressor here too. mfx as well. and delay. reverb too. about the mfx, each sound has a multi-effect assigned to it. very nice.

it's got the d-beam too! you can assign the d-beam to pitch. or sfx. maybe a spring reverb here? controller, which here is affecting the rotary speed. you can do lots of things here. let's move on to the piano section. the pianos sound great! hit the synth button and off to the synthesizer section we go.

see how it works? well. this is nice. especially, with the new version, there are some surprises here in the piano section, mainly electric piano sounds. now this... uh. hold on. see how there are stars to the left of the names here? the stars indicate patches with either new waveforms or new voicing, or both as the case may be. here's one of the original ones.

right? this is one of the sounds from the first release. but from here... ...we go to the new ones. i used this sound already today, pure ep. this one is like, uh, the bones are fatter, uh, it's a nice sound with substance to it! nice. the mfx on this one is the hexa chorus. it's so nice. what a fantastic sound!

next, phase ep. the mfx here, small phaser. small phaser... that would be the ehx small stone. yeah that's great. "richard t" kinda thing. tremolo. cranking up the mfx raises the speed & depth. the 12 o'clock position usually works best, on most things, or at least i think so.

the square wave feel from the rhodes is very well done here. next, vr ep. the vr referred to here is the vr-760. this kind of sound was in that one. yeah. very good. here's number 2. tremolo on it, right? next, pure wurly. now this is a really good sound! the difference between soft... ...and hard here.

the re-creation of the reeds here is just fantastic! next, sa ep. sa! wow, now that really sounds like an sa! the newest model. these waveforms come from the rd-800 model. this feels great to play! it just pulls you right in! isn't that nice? next, sa ep stock. man that's nice. the chorus too.

metallic ep. this sound is in the newest model of the fa. a simulation of an fm electric piano. add some hexa chorus here. so nice! next, hybrid ep. this one is from the sonic cell package. those of you familiar with the vr know that if you press two buttons here simultaneously... ...you get instant layered sounds. excellent.

that's enough for electric piano. ok. next, synth sounds, and there are loads of new ones in here. especially synth lead sounds. there are lots of such sounds in the first vr09, but... here we go, sl jp8. jupiter-8! that delay was nice too. jp-8, jupiter-8 key. ah ok! yeah jupiter-8s make these kinds of sounds.

this sound has awesome bass! nice. jp 6. the six! jupiter 6! the portamento on that, just what you'd expect from the supernatural system. yeah, ok, now below these organ controls here, you can see cutoff, resonance, attack, decay, release. so, you can use the drawbars to edit the synth sounds. you can really push the resonance! jupiter-6 lead 2. it has a pitch eg working there, kinda nice.

next, juno. juno overdrive lead. these lead sounds are very nice! next, juno key. mmm, nicely done! here we go. d50! yeah we've heard that somewhere before, the d50 pizzicato sound. d50 soft lead. sounds like the la synthesis engine! absolutely wonderful.

ok, next. the pad group here, is full of new sounds. jupiter-8 bright pad. wow, this is just great! jupiter-8 soft. now this sound, the way it's like a wall of sound, that's really so characteristic of a jupiter-8. spot on. the filter is nice!

jupiter-6 lfo pad. ah, i see. right. oh that phaser is nice, good combination there. juno! juno! that captures those soft juno pad sounds quite well. work the filter here... a bit more... fantastic.

that's supernatural for you. juno lfo pad. ah, it's cycling. you hear it there? next one is unison. that's pleasantly fat! i think you get the idea. something else though, the sound effects patches,

there's one here i like, jupiter-6 fx. you could even use this as a pad. i like how it starts with noise there. this. is. exquisite! wow. what an awesome army of new waveforms! with these additions, the vr09 has gone from strength to strength, really! it's really, really good! i'm quite happy with the pads, actually.

this jupiter soft pad here in particular. just fantastic! and then there's this one, the jupiter-6 sound effect. maybe i'll layer them. you can get a lot of mileage out of this, no doubt. the v-combo vr-09!
