hello, ujiie here! the keylab 88. it's the 88-key version of the keylab. available now! and let me tell you, the keyboard feels just... great! absolutely great! yeah, this thing is really something else! it's got 88 keys, weighted piano touch,

made in italy by fatar, absolute highest quality, their keyboards are awesome. it's great! and if you take a look at the sides of the thing, they're made of wood. yeah, see how it's white like this? that's very nice. and the controller section here too, you've got your 16 pads over here,

9 sliders here in the middle, and 10 knobs here to the left. transport controls located over here. buttons for editing parameters. lcd display here. pitch bend and modulation wheels. octave shift buttons. as a controller? with this degree of completeness, you're set! fantastic. and the colors are nice too!

right? if you have a nice master keyboard, it's easy to be motivated! i get that feeling from it anyway. i think it's great. ok. and as you see, i have my macbook here, sitting on the top of the keyboard. maybe some of you have noticed? notebook pcs take up a certain amount of space, right? if there was only this much depth here, the pc might fall off, right? but look how they've handled it!

see that part there? it's a stand/support kind of thing, attached to the keyboard there. it comes with it! that itself is really nice. what an awesome idea! just fantastic! put it right there. it fits perfectly! and then there's this clear acrylic part here. put your sheet music here.

makes you want to get down to business! superb! and of course, it has a usb connection, simply plugged in to the host pc. and it runs on usb bus power, too. this ginormous 88-key beast runs on usb bus power?! great! and what about the sound? let's see what kind of soft synths we have here. included with your purchse of the keylab 88,

first of all, the analog lab. no worries, it comes with it! just that in itself should make you feel empowered! uh, for those that don't know, the analog lab is a set that arturia has put together, a kind of growing assembly if you will, including the moog modular, the minimoog the arp 2600, a wurlitzer,

the prophet 5, an oberheim, uh, ob-8? (it's an sem) a prophet vs, and a cs-80 and jupiter-8! the heart and soul of these synths is in here! over 5,000 sounds! it's utter madness! let's play with the minimoog. when the 'spotlight' is on the minimoog, that means it's

the active module at the moment. and as such, there are a variety of sounds here, see? wow, this is crazy. what a great job they've done here. if you open up the data filter view here, you can specify search categories, mini v, uh, ok click on bass here in types, and you get a list of just bass sounds at the left. next, how about cs-80,

uh, pads? click that and you get cs-80 pads. a nice sound! jupiter-8. moog modular. wow, what a sound! oberheim! sem-v. nice. 5,000 sounds, ok? you've got all these sounds, right?

but let me show you something else. this is great, no matter what anyone says! the uvi workstation. grand piano, model d. that is, uh, also included in the works is a grand piano module. great! this grand piano... ...well, there are a variety of sounds here too,

but this one, model d, is a steinway full-concert grand piano, model d. what they did here, get this, is used a neumann u 87 microphone, a top class mic!!! and sampled the piano. and up here in the options section, you can do stuff like change the velocity curve, or lots of other things too. change the gain.

add some noise from the pedal. this right here is really well done! let's have a listen. that's one heck of a good sound! if you play it softly... or play it hard... yep. the 'touch' of this 88-key keybed is fantastic. it doesn't miss a beat! fantastic!

of course there are reverb settings... yeah, this thing really sounds good!!! it just sticks right to your fingers, this! it really is just like playing a top-class piano! amazing! right? the uvi workstation grand piano. we're not done yet! here's the piano teq 5 stage! this one is fantastic as well!

now, piano teq is uh, it uses physical modeling. when you install it you can choose piano set, electric piano set or chromatic percussion set. marimba or vibes or things like that. some choices there. well, we've already got the uvi grand piano, so today i'll go with the rhodes. i've selected the electric piano set. here we go, first up is the r2 basic.

sounds great! feels just like playing a rhodes. i mean with the keylab 88 keyboard? it's really like a match made in heaven! sound called bright up next. ohh the fuzz and clank here, great! nice, nice! you've also got lots of effects in here. uh, like tremolo for example.

that's stereo tremolo, right? very nice, this. fantastic! what else is in here? put chorus on it. very nice. how about wurlitzer? many different kinds of wurlitzer. this one says reed here. ah, and wurlitzer tremolo is hard to ignore. yeah that's a nice one.

ah, clavinet! it has clavinet sounds too. you hear that sound at key off? it's got that kind of 'thck' sound when you release the keys. that's really nice. the color changes as well, ok? the clavinet is brown. next, auto-wow. the 'wow' is automatic on that one. and next, uhhh, a sound with distortion.

overdrive. yeah! cool! very rock 'n roll! back to rhodes. if you open the effector window here, you can control the effects. put tremolo on it... or put delay on it... right? uhhh... lots of stuff. let's put chorus on it here.

change the amount of reverb on it. this is good! that's the piano teq stage. uh piano teq 5 stage... together with the uvi workstation grand piano? mix them together. for layers like this. two sounds stacked. ahh that's nice. for a ballad?

that's phenomenally nice, don't you think? but we're not done yet! no we're not. let's use analog lab, and add a pad to the equation ! see the slider on screen changing with this? so all of these things i showed you here today, are included with purchase of the keylab 88. the analog lab here. the uvi workstation grand piano.

and the piano teq 5 thing too, piano, electric piano or percussion. your choice of the three. and there's one more "good idea!" item bundled with it, which is this right here. uh, as you can see i have an ipad here today. i've seen lots of people using tablets for sheet music recently. or other people have used it for tracklist or live set list information. lots of uses. probably the most i've seen is for scoring use.

and most times, the orientation has been portrait. but oriented like that, the connector part at the bottom well, of course it's best to use fully charged, but if you use it through a long rehearsal, if there's no easy way to plug it in, it's a problem. well, in times like those, guess what! do you see this? i've got it plugged in and charging.

they've designed it with a hole here! yeah they really did their homework with this. good idea! they listened to the voice of the users, right? if you put an ipad here, it ends up like this, right? so they built it with a hole here just for that. perfect fit! this kind of thing is such a good idea! great work! awesome! having a master keyboard with excellent touch response

really has an effect on the music you make. seriously, it'll change your music. personally, i think a keyboard like this is a must! almost to the point of not being able to live without one! and you really, really need to try one. even just once! highly recommended! truly a top-class keyboard! 88-key weighted, piano action. the arturia keylab 88!
